Ex Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan left Loose Women viewers heartbroken on Tuesday as he shared his poignant reason for growing his hair so long before having it shaved off live on TV.
James, who was a dancer on Strictly for many years along with wife Ola before going onto compete in Celebrity Big Brother and win Dancing on Ice, was a guest on the ITV lunchtime show and joined Kay Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore from his home.
Prior to James' appearance alongside Ola, Kay revealed that James' dad Alan had recently passed away after battling a terminal brain tumour.
Introducing him, Kay joked: "James you look like a wild man there," and, after revealing how he'd been coping in the aftermath of his dad's death, opened up on why he'd let his hair get so long.
He said: "It was something I wanted to do in his memory.
"It became a bit of a superstition that I kept my hair long all the time he was alive and doing well.
"Obviously with lockdown at the beginning I wasn't able to get my haircut and then for some reason, I'm not normally superstitious, but I didn't want to cut my hair.
"Because I felt that if I did, something bad was going to happen and now I want to use it as a positive to raise awareness to brain tumours and The Brain Tumour charity."
Kay replied: "He sounds like a really special guy your dad James," to which he told her: "He was. He was a great husband, dad, grandfather; a loving man, a daredevil...unlike his son who became a dancer."
Ola, who was standing with clippers in her hand, then set about shaving all of James' hair and after he squirmed: "it's snagging a bit!", the show cut to an ad break.
Following the adverts, host Kaye cut back to James and Ola's kitchen, by which ;point nearly all his hair had gone, meaning he looked totally different
Tuesday was also James' 43rd birthday and Ola went of camera for a moment to return with a cake sent from the Loose Women panel to mark the occasion.
