James Jeggo Hibs red card sparks explosive John Collins VAR rant as he claims officials 'should never work again'

Raging John Collins has unleashed on the VAR officials that didn't send referee Craig Napier to the monitor to review the red card dished out to Hibs star James Jeggo.

The Easter Road side earned their spot in the Scottish Premiership top six despite a scare Jeggo receiving his marching orders early in the second half against St Johnstone. The midfielder appeared to have won the ball ahead of Connor McLennan before the Perth Saints star fell to the ground, leading to whistler Napier pulling out a straight red card.

Chris Graham in the VAR room did not offer Napier the chance to review the incident, with the call not being deemed a clear and obvious error. At the full-time whistle boss Lee Johnson blasted the verdict declaring it a "poor call" for both the officials on the pitch and behind the video technology. The Easter Road gaffer was backed up by a heated Collins as he broke down the flashpoint on BBC Sportsound stating "It's totally ridiculous.

"One, the decision from the referee - but he only has an instant to make his decision. He pulls out the red card far too quickly. But VAR, the guys who sit and watch that in slow motion, multiple time and not to flag it up - they should never work again. They should never be involved in professional football again.

"If you can watch that and you can't signal to the referee on the pitch 'you have made a mistake, rectify it' then what is the point? They are not doing their job. They are collecting a salary but they haven't done what they are supposed to do - which is make decisions.

"It is a clear and obvious error for the whole world (to see). It's an incredible decision. Thankfully, it has not really cost any team. It's not been a disaster from that point of view, but from a Scottish football point of view it's a joke."
