James Hook's super talented son nails decisive kicks to win dad's big testimonial match

In the end, there were only two points in it as a James Hook Select XV defeated a Classic Lions XV 45-43 at The Gnoll.

Quite a good job young Harrison Hook brought his kicking boots with him then. James Hook’s talented son came onto the field in the first half to convert a try by Shane Williams.

And the Mumbles U12s fly-half stepped up again in the final quarter to slot over the extras after his father had claimed his second touchdown of the game.

Temperament is key for a goalkicker and on that front Hook junior showed he has what it takes.

His first successful attempt was eminently missable for one so young, some 22 metres out. But with his slightly round-the-corner kicking style, he stepped back a couple of paces, ran forward and hooked the ball between the posts.

Take a look at all the pictures from the big night here.

To the manner born?

Indeed.

The second shot was even more effortlessly dispatched.

What can be said?

Ultimately, rugby is about making a difference. On Friday evening, James Hook’s son did exactly that.
