James Harden went to the gym after dropping 61 points on the Spurs tonight

What’s scarier than a player dropping 61 points in a game for the second time in a season?

That he goes to the gym to get a workout in right after doing so.

James Harden posted on Instagram that he was in the gym Friday night — right after he matched his career high by scoring 61 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 111-105 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Harden, who also scored 61 on January 23 against the New York Knicks, joins Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan as the only players with multiple 60-point games in a season in NBA history.

That is seriously unfair.

Harden has now reached 50 points or more for the 8th time this season. The rest of the league has had just 10 such performances.

He scored 57 on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, which makes him and Chamberlain the only two players in NBA history to score at least 55 points on consecutive games.

Now we totally get why the reigning MVP had this to say on Twitter after the game…

Harden finished the night shooting 19-34, including nine-of-13 from beyond the arc. He was also 14-17 from the free-throw line.

“I don’t know how you get any better than that. Whoever was in the gym tonight got to see something they’ve never seen before,” said Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni post game.
