James Harden tweeted a goodbye note to Houston following his trade to the Nets

The sour end to James Harden’s run with the Houston Rockets will likely stay fresh on the minds of many fans given the drama leading up to the trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

But for Harden, those eight-plus seasons in Houston saw him develop from the Oklahoma City Thunder’s talented sixth man to one of the most dynamic scorers in the league and the 2018 MVP.

So, even though Harden was the one who essentially forced his way out of Houston, he still felt deep appreciation for the city that helped shape his NBA career. And on Monday, he finally came around to thanking Houston.

In a series of tweets, Harden wrote that he will be “forever indebted” to the city of Houston for supporting him with the Rockets. He acknowledged that he fell short of his goal of bringing the city a title but went on to thank Houston for everything.

Harden made his Nets debut on Saturday, scoring 32 points in a win over Orlando. He’ll make his return to Houston as a member of the Nets on March 3.
