James Harden to miss Warriors game due to cervical strain

Rockets star James Harden will miss Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors with a cervical strain, per coach Mike D’Antoni.

Harden injured his shoulder Feb. 9 against the Oklahoma City Thunder and had been listed as questionable on the injury report tonight. He injured his shoulder while getting tangled up with Thunder center Steven Adams and it had been noticeably deterring him throughout games, particularly when shooting three-pointers.

Harden has shot 20-62 (32.2 percent) from three-point range ever since injuring his shoulder.

D’Antoni even noticed Harden’s shoulder was bothering him after the Rockets defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 11.

“He was amazing, but I think the shoulder is bothering him,” D’Antoni said after the game.

Harden originally shrugged off the injury after the Oklahoma City game, but admitted it was bothering him after that game against the Mavericks.

“I was getting treatment after the (OKC) game and all day yesterday,” Harden said when asked about his shoulder. ” I couldn’t get the lift that I usually have on my shot, but that’s no excuse.”

The Rockets play again on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks so this should give Harden a solid three days off to treat that shoulder.
