James Harden passes Dirk Nowitzki on NBA’s all-time list of 3-pointers made

James Harden saluted Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki on Monday for passing Wilt Chamberlain for 6th on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list.

It may be Nowitzki who does the saluting Tuesday night.

Upon making his second three-pointer of the night Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks, Harden passed Nowitzki on the NBA’s all-time list of three-pointers made. They were tied for 11th until he made the basket, giving him 1,961 for his career.

What’s crazy is that Harden is in his 10th season, and Dirk is in his 21st season.

Harden went on to make two more three-pointers in the Houston Rockets’ win over the Hawks. Harden finished 31 points and 10 assists.

Harden also passed Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors for the most three-point field goals attempted in a season. Harden entered Tuesday’s game with 879 attempts, seven behind the 886 Curry attempted during the 2015-16 season. Harden attempted 11 Tuesday night, making four of them.

In total, Harden has made 316 from downtown this season — which leads the NBA.

Houston also leads the league in how many three-pointers they make, draining an average of 15.6 three-pointers per game.
