James Harden on adding Russell Westbrook: ‘It’s going to be a lot of fun this year’

It’s hard to ignore the James Harden-Russell Westbrook narrative: two LA kids who were drafted to the Oklahoma City Thunder, saw some success, then saw the team break apart. There wasn’t a single NBA fan who questioned why the Thunder would break apart such a young core that just made its first NBA Finals with the potential to reach more.

When Harden was traded to the Rockets, he wasn’t happy about the trade, but made Houston his home and turned the franchise around. Harden has won the city over, won an MVP, and is now looking to win an NBA title with a friend he’s known since childhood.

At an adidas event, Harden talked about what leaving OKC meant to him and how he’s made Houston his home. The two may not make the most sense on paper, but Harden knows this is going to be a really fun season for the guys who have won two of the last three MVP awards.
