James Harden loses 2018-19 MVP to Giannis Antetokounmpo

The reigning MVP failed to make it a two-peat on Monday night.

James Harden lost the MVP award to Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak took home the award and was physically at the awards show in Santa Monica, California. It was probably pretty obvious that The Beard wasn’t going to win because he isn’t even in the country – he’s in China doing a promotional tour for Adidas.

Antetokounmpo had an awesome season for sure, leading the Bucks to the best record in the NBA. He averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. The Greek Freek was also a unanimous All-NBA First Team selection and was selected to the NBA All-Defensive first team

But, Harden got robbed.

The Houston Rockets superstar carried the team out of an 11-14 hole in December, which included averaging more than 40 points per game for a month. He also had an unreal streak of 32 consecutive games with at least 30 points.

Harden averaged a league-leading 36.1 points per game, as well as 7.5 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. He was yet again an All-NBA First Team selection.

Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder was also nominated.
