James Harden gives $10,000 to Bahamas family fishing for food

Houston Rockets superstar James Harden gave $10,000 on Saturday to a family in The Bahamas that was fishing for food, according to Adidas sports marketing manager Troy Payne.

Harden, who won the NBA’s 2018 MVP award and finished second in 2019 voting after averaging 36.1 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game, has been in The Bahamas this week for training. On Thursday, he worked out with fellow Rockets guard Eric Gordon.

The majority of the 2019-20 Rockets roster is expected to train and work out together later this month in Los Angeles, California, according to The Athletics Kelly Iko and Alykhan Bijani.

In the meantime, Harden appears focused on his own personal workouts while simultaneously helping out others around him, such as the mother and her family fishing for food in The Bahamas.

Harden’s next JH-Town Weekend charity event, with funds going to his 3TheHardenWay organization, is scheduled for Aug. 23-25 in Houston. Events include a comedy show and celebrity softball game.

“I’ve always been about the community,” Harden said upon launching the annual charity weekend two years ago, according to Fox 26 Houston. I’ve always been about people spreading love and joy.”
