James Harden did not attempt a free throw in Sunday’s game — the first time since January 2015

James Harden did not attempt a free throw in the 32 minutes of play he logged against the Minnesota Timberwolves Sunday night.

The last time such an anomaly happened was Jan. 2, 2015, against the New Orleans Pelicans. Sunday’s game is just the second time out of 857 career games that Harden has not been sent to the line.

Harden leads the league with 11.31 free throws attempted per game.

The reigning MVP had 20 points (8-12 FG, 4-12 3PT) and 10 rebounds, but somehow did not get to the charity stripe all game — and we’re wondering if it is because he was taking it easy due to injury.

Harden had been questionable before the start of a game due to a cervical strain, but we know that if he can play, he is going to go ahead and play.

We’re hoping that Harden does continue to get in some rest, as well as aerobics (see video below, please), as the season winds down.

On Sunday, the Rockets drained 21 threes en route to a 117-102 win over the T-Wolves and moved to 44-26. They’re sitting solo in third place in the Western Conference, and making serious moves for the No. 2 spot.
