James Harden asked why the Russell Westbrook trade was taking so long

In the end, James Harden essentially got what he wanted out of the Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook trade — but there was a point in which he was growing a bit impatient.

Harden was eager to move on to the next mini-era of Rockets basketball, but couldn’t understand why the deal couldn’t be done sooner, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Instead, Morey and Presti collaborated on their second blockbuster together, reuniting Westbrook and Harden nearly seven years after the trade that sent Harden to Houston. “At one point, James asked me, ‘Why is it taking so long?’” Morey said. “I told him, ‘Dude, your trade took me five months.’”

It’s probably a good sign for his relationship with Russell that he was so eager to bring him aboard to the squad in Houston, but it’s a little hilarious that Harden was so unaware of the inner-workings of getting a deal done in the NBA.

Of course, the Rockets were able to get the deal done and move Paul to Oklahoma City for the former MVP who has finished the last three seasons averaging a triple-double.
