James Gunn's Superman Movie Introduces New DC Universe Characters.

James Gunn CEO of DC Studios

James Gunn's Superman stars are gearing up in new DC Universe fan art, bringing beloved characters to life from the comics. As David Corenswet's Superman movie progresses through principal photography, the new DC Universe is on the brink of replacing the old DCEU franchise. While Gunn has unveiled the entire cast, details about the Superman plot, including the super suits' designs, remain tightly under wraps.

Gunn's Superman film is well into filming, with more shooting days ahead before entering post-production. As fans eagerly await further insights into the movie, a new fan art piece shared by @GothamChief showcases all the announced Superman actors embodying their respective DC characters.

The fan art is inspired by a group selfie taken by the Superman cast after their initial table read, capturing the excitement as they prepared for their first day of filming. Notably, Wendell Pierce's Perry White casting was not yet announced at the time of the photo. Alongside Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, the photo features a talented ensemble cast portraying iconic DC characters.

The upcoming Superman movie will delve into a younger version of Clark Kent, depicting his early days as the legendary DC hero. Despite the focus on his formative years, Gunn's film will not serve as an origin story, set in a DC Universe where numerous superheroes are already established.

While Nicholas Hoult is set to portray Lex Luthor, his role as the main Superman villain remains uncertain. Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, and The Engineer will appear in supporting roles, enriching the narrative by showcasing a world with active superheroes surrounding Superman.

The inclusion of The Engineer in Superman is expected to lay the groundwork for the upcoming The Authority movie in development at DC Studios. Although Gunn hinted at no San Diego Comic-Con appearance, DC Studios is likely to unveil more about Superman later this year as filming progresses, potentially offering glimpses of the diverse supersuits featured in the movie.

Directed and written by James Gunn, 'Superman: Legacy' marks the inaugural film in Warner Bros.' revamped DC Universe, introducing a fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel following Henry Cavill's departure from the role, embodying the character's timeless values of 'truth, justice, and the American way.'
