James Graham joins Rangers as Ibrox side beat Liverpool and Manchester United to sign youngster

Rangers have signed Ross County youngster James Graham in a £45,000 deal.

The 16-year-old was at the Rangers training ground to put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Rangers will officially register the signing of the striker when the transfer window opens.

Graham has been on the Ibrox radar for some time and has also been tracked by some of England’s biggest clubs, including Wolves.

The talented teenager also had trials at both Liverpool and Manchester United last year.

Graham will now join the Rangers academy squad after being convinced by sporting director Ross Wilson that his future should be at Ibrox.

Aberdeen also moved last season to snap up midfielder Mark Gallagher from Ross County.

Rangers are known to be keen on Blackpool youngster Tony Weston as well.

Meanwhile, Ibrox youngster Stephen Kelly has moved the opposite way by joining County on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder spent last season at Ayr United before the Championship was curtailed and now makes the step up to the Premiership.

He's also signed a new three-year deal at Rangers and he said: “I’m delighted that I’ve now got another couple of years with Rangers to try and make the gap and get into the first team.

“I had a loan spell with Ayr United which has paid off and hopefully I can now keep working and keep progressing in the years to come.

“I definitely think I am capable of playing top flight football and I am excited to go to Ross County.”
