On-loan midfielder James Garner believes spending the full season at Nottingham Forest can help him continue to make progress.
The Manchester United youngster first joined the Reds almost 12 months ago, in the last January window, having been at Watford for the first half of last term.
He proved a big hit Trentside, and has previously spoken about how he was always keen to return to the City Ground.
Just as last January, his Premier League parent club have a recall clause in his loan deal, but Garner says, this time, he is eager to spend the full campaign in one place.
“Last season, I was moving place, moving clubs, moving locations; you’ve got to move everything and start over again, get used to a new team,” said the 20-year-old. “I think it will help having a full year at one club.
“Getting used to things over and over again at different clubs can be quite tough.
“Having a year here makes it much easier.
“I was more than settled here last season as well.
“I’m quite an easy-going person, I can get on with most people, so the first week or two when I first came, I settled in straight away.
“Coming back, I already knew all the boys anyway, so that made it easy.”
Both Forest and United have changed managers this term.
Steve Cooper, who Garner knew from his time with England Under-17s, replaced Chris Hughton in the Reds hot-seat in September. And, at Old Trafford, Ralf Rangnick is in interim charge, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked last month.
“The changes that have happened at United, I put to one side at the moment,” said Garner. “I’m here at Forest. I’m here to do a job. I’m representing this club at the moment, so it’s all focused on that, doing my best and working week in, week out to hopefully put myself in the squad at a weekend when the manager picks the team.
“I’ve got to focus on what I can manage, which is what’s happening here. That’s what I’m doing at the moment.”
He added: “I am in regular contact with (United). I speak to the loan managers every week. They come to my games and they tell me what I’ve done well or what I’ve done bad.
“I’ve not really spoken to many people in terms of coaches, managers or what not, but I speak to the loan managers regularly.
“I hope they’re happy with me!
“I’m definitely happy here. It’s going well at the moment, and long may it continue.”
