James Garner admits is has been 'difficult' adapting to the demands of Championship football following his second loan exit from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old midfielder joined Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the season over the weekend after United had terminated his previous loan deal with Watford.
Garner had started brightly for the Hornets this season but saw playing time severely diminished following a managerial change at Vicarage Road.
The teenager played just 40 minutes under new manager Xisco in the space of a month, which forced United to take drastic action by ending his loan-spell early.
Despite a recent lack of playing time Forest were very happy to take a chance on Garner after they initially made contact with the player's agent a week ago.
Garner will now be looking to secure a regular place in Chris Hughton's team - and he admits his first season in the Championship has been a welcome reality check.
"The Championship has been tough," Garner told the official Forest YouTube channel. "I have found it quite tough to be fair. Coming from 23s football straight into the Championship. Some people say it is possibly the hardest league in the world in terms of the things you come up against; the pitches, the way teams play.
"So it has been difficult to adapt but something that is a challenge - and I like a challenge."
