James Forrest reveals Neil Lennon Celtic debt as he pledges repayment in trophies

James Forrest has revealed his sense of indebtedness to Neil Lennon for bringing him through from the youth team.

The winger made his debut in 2010 under his current gaffer, scoring against Motherwell in a 4-0 win.

And now Lennon's back in situ as manager, Forrest wants to repay him for the faith he showed when the Scotland star was just starting out.

He said: "When I was playing 19s he did loads for me and when he stepped up to the first team I was still young and he gave me my debut. Now he is back I want to keep repaying him for the faith he has always shown on me."

Such has been Forrest's influence since then, the club are now releasing a book to mark his storied Celtic career.

A modest, unassuming character Forrest needed to be convinced.

He revealed: "The club came to me and I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I spoke to my family and they said it was a really good thing for me to do.

"Working on the book has been a really positive experience. This is my 10th season at a big club and talking about that and the last few years in particular has been great.

'It’s crazy my ten years have gone so quick. I enjoyed every moment, from the youth to the first team and I want to stay here as long as I can. I love every minute at Celtic and I will always work hard to be here."

"I have played with a lot of players that have left and some players that have come back and they will all tell you Celtic is the best club they have been at. It’s been a pleasure for me."
