James Forrest gives Celtic and Scotland an injury scare as winger limps off before Rangers showdown

Scotland and Celtic fans are once again sweating over the fitness of James Forrest after he limped off injured.

The winger has missed most of this season with an ankle problem but started against Livingston on Saturday afternoon.

Forrest hit his second goal in two games as his comeback continued but hearts were in mouths in the second half.

After playing a pass the Scotland international pulled up and grabbed his right leg, immediately indicating that he would have to come off.

He was replaced by Ryan Christie but the image of Forrest limping off will be a worry for club and country.

Celtic have a looming Scottish Cup showdown with Rangers as they look to end a disappointing season with one piece of silverware.

Meanwhile Scotland kick off their Euro 2020 campaign in June, and boss Steve Clarke will be hoping Forrest gets plenty of minutes under his belt before them.

The winger is coming back from a long-term injury, and muscular injuries are common in such situations, but both clubs will be hoping it's nothing serious.
