James Forrest deserves more Celtic appreciation says Barry Ferguson as he feels winger will 'worry' Rangers

James Forrest has not been given the credit he deserves from Celtic fans, insists Barry Ferguson, as he feels Rangers will be worried about facing the winger on Sunday.

The Scotland international has missed most of this season with an ankle problem, and is in doubt for the Scottish Cup clash at the weekend with a muscular problem.

And after a disastrous season for Celtic, the Rangers legend feels Forrest will be more appreciated in his absence.

Ferguson said on Go Radio: "It's about time people appreciated James Forrest.

"A lot of Celtic fans, he was an easy target. For me it's shown how much Celtic have missed him - he's a top player.

"He can win games but also he does the dirty side brilliantly, when he's not playing well he'll give you 100 per cent for the team.

"He's a real team player and you've seen the difference he's made since he came back into the Celtic team in the last couple of weeks.

"He was really good, it was obviously a worry for John Kennedy when he came off injured but, listen, it'll be a worry for Rangers if he's fit to play on Sunday.

"James Forrest is a top player."
