Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou hopes a trio of his players will be able to return to face Midtjylland on Tuesday.
But the manager admits the Champions League qualifier is likely to come too soon for wing king James Forrest.
A number of first-teamers skipped Saturday's pre-season friendly against Preston North End at Parkhead as the visitors nicked a 1-0 victory courtesy of Ben Whiteman's penalty with the home gaffer opting to pick a rather youthful starting 11.
However that was precautionary in most cases as Postecoglou admitted he couldn't run the risk of losing yet more first team stars.
He opted against fielding Nir Bitton, Ismaila Soro and Ryan Christie but hopes to have them ready to face the Danes.
He said: “There’s a couple who are close and we didn’t want to risk them today. So those names, and Ryan Christie, will all train tomorrow.
“Because James missed so much, he was out for ten days, we have just got to be a little bit careful with him.
“He only really got a run out yesterday and while he will train again tomorrow Tuesday could be a little bit early for him.
“But certainly after that he will hopefully get a week’s training.”
