James Ennis says Sixers are going to ‘walk to the Finals’ next season, immediately gets mocked

James Ennis is returning to the Philadelphia 76ers III with a two-year deal.

That news alone isn’t all that big, as the small forward played in just 18 games with the team last year after being traded by the Rockets midway through the year.

He averaged just over 15 minutes a game and was far from a key guy in the rotation.

But here’s why it’s news. Check out what he had to say to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer about why he wanted to return to the Sixers:

“Because it’s a good team, and a good chance of winning. The East is going to wide open. We had a good chance last year. Kawhi is gone. He went to the West. So we are going to walk to the Finals in the East.”

While the Sixers have made some big moves this offseason, there is still a lot of talent in the Eastern Conference, including the Bucks, who made into the conference Finals last season and have the NBA’s MVP in their lineup.

So saying the Sixers will “walk to the Finals” seems a little much. NBA fans, including some Sixers fans, weren’t impressed:
