James Cracknell says he's in hospital after having operation on his 'nether regions'

James Cracknell has revealed he's in hospital recovering from an operation on his 'nether regions'.

The Olympic rowing champion, 48, took to his Instagram account on Friday evening to share the news with his 39,000 followers, admitting he was too scared to 'inspect' the area after going under the knife.

He posted a picture of his knee that had a huge arrow drawn on it in black marker to show the surgeons the area where they would be operating.

In the snap, which didn't show his face, he was still wearing his hospital gown and appeared to be sitting on his hospital bed.

James captioned the photo: "Just come round from an op on my nether regions at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.

"I can't thank the staff & the NHS enough, they were amazing.

"Especially operating in the current circumstances."

James jokingly said he was a bit worried that the surgeons hadn't operated in the right place.

He continued: "Not inspected the area yet so hope they operated on the correct fella!"

"Thank you," he added, alongside a crossed fingers emoji.

James recently appeared in Don't Rock The Boat as part of a surprise challenge.

The teams competed to win his expert skills so he could join their team in a race.

But viewers were distracted when he arrived onscreen, with many saying they couldn't keep their eyes off his "bulge".
