James Corden has admitted he felt ‘privileged’ to be asked to host the highly-anticipated Friends reunion, which will air later this month.
After a trailer of the show was released on Wednesday, fans were not happy when they realised it was the Gavin and Stacey star who was presenting it.
One user on Twitter wrote: "I don't like the fact that James Corden hosted the #FriendsReunion. Could've chosen someone else who had a deeper connection with the friends cast. Maybe Ellen idk. But not James Corden."

During a chat with Alison Hammond on Thursday's This Morning, James ignored the backlash and also remained tight-lipped about the epic reunion.
"I can’t tell you much I’m afraid. It’s peppered with lots of different people popping in and out, but really it's a celebration of the unbelievable chemistry between that cast," he told Alison.

"It’s a big nostalgic look back at this group of characters that means so much to so many people.
"I can’t tell you much more than that, other that I was privileged to be asked to be part of it, y'know."
After the trailer was released, there was a lot of suggestion that the person fronting the show should have been someone who had a part to play in the original series, with the likes of Paul Rudd being called for.

However, the two-minute clip did get others excited for its airing. It showcased several scenes that fans will see when it eventually hits our screens on 27 May on HBO Max.
In several instances, the stars go on to re-enact some of the sitcom's most quotable moments, with Lisa Kudrow screaming Phoebe's famous line: "Oh my eyes, my eyes!"
Friends: The Reunion will air on May 27 on HBO Max.
