James Corden praises ‘brave’ Prince Harry and reveals their children go on play dates

James Corden has called Prince Harry a “devoted and loving husband” as he revealed their children go on play dates.

The London-born television presenter has become a sensation in the US since he began hosting The Late Late Show in 2015.

In February 2021 he and Prince Harry cruised around LA in a double-decker bus and spoke about the future of the Royal Family in a wide-ranging interview.

Now, the 43-year-old comedian has opened up about his friendship with the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan.

Asked if he had been to the couple’s £11 million home in Montecito, California, he told the Sun: “I have. It was more a sort of play date scenario [with the kids]. Then we went out for dinner after, it was lovely. Obviously I’m not telling you any more. Obviously.”

He added: “Look, I’m a huge fan of both of them. Obviously I know Harry better than I know Meghan but I think it’s really hard to judge, or be judgmental.

“People process things and deal with things in different ways and that’s OK, and it’s all right to think whatever you think about somebody.

“I don’t know if it necessarily needs to be voiced the whole time but my experience of them has been nothing but positive.

“I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Harry, and anyone who has been around him and spent time with him would feel exactly the same way.

“I think he is a devoted and loving husband and father and I think what they have done [in turning away from royal life] is incredibly brave and I’ll always be in their corner.

“I have nothing but admiration and respect for them. I think it’s impossible to judge any of it really.”

It comes after Corden announced he will quit The Late Late Show after seven years and move back to the UK.

Last month, he tearfully told viewers: “"When I started this journey it was always going to be just that, it was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination.

"In a year from now that will be a good time to move on to see what else is out there."

George Cheeks, boss of US channel CBS, said: "We wish he could stay longer, but we are very proud he made CBS his American home."

Corden, who has children Max, 10, Carey, seven, and Charlotte, three, with his wife Julia, 43, has said his family have "walked to the beat of my drum for a very long time".
