The Daily Mirror reports that Mr Corden has been paid £3 million to remain with the CBS show in a new contract which will keep him as the host until 2020.

He is well known for his comedy sketches with celebrity guests. One of his most famous skits involved him posing in his underwear to mimic David Beckham’s Calvin Klein adverts.

He has proved a hit with viewers and critics alike, with Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter writing in a review of his hosting skills: “This much was clear... he’s different. The glaring difference is that he comes without almost any snark, which is a modern American late-night talk-show host must-have quality that was only recently spurned by Jimmy Fallon.”

Similarly, talk-show titan Leno agreed, telling Today on Radio 4: “He’s a very funny guy and he’s an especially likeable guy... I think the era of ironic snarkiness is over in America.”

It is understood that the show is now seeking to foster greater links with Youtube, streaming entire episodes on the site and interviewing well known Youtubers on the programme.
