James Bulger's mum Denise Fergus to become grandmother for first time

The mum of murdered toddler James Bulger has announced she is to become a grandmother for the first time.

Denise Fergus, from Merseyside, made the announcement yesterday, posting a photo of an ultrasound scan and a baby romper suit featuring the message "Baby Fergus due in 2020".

She said: "My first grandchild is on its way. I couldn't be happier."

Her husband Stuart also said: "So proud to say Denise Fergus and I are going to be grandparents for the first time."

He congratulated stepson Mickey Fergus and his partner Leanne McPadden as he shared the news.

Denise split from James' dad Ralph and married electrician Stuart in 1998.

They have two more sons together, Thomas, 21, and Leon, 20.
