James Bradberry explains why he chose Giants over Lions

Unlike many of Dave Gettleman’s ex-players, veteran cornerback James Bradberry has chosen to stay loyal to the man who draft him.

In an appearance on the “Jim Rome Show” on Monday, the former Carolina Panthers cornerback and 2016 second-round draft pick said he chose the Giants over the Detroit Lions in free agency.

“I just felt like New York was a better fit for me. I knew Mr. [Dave] Gettleman and I knew what type of organization he’s trying to build over there,” Bradberry told Rome. “I knew some of the players over there as well and they had nothing but good things to say about the organization.”

Of course, a three-year, $43.5 million contract with $31.9 million of that guaranteed had a lot to do with Bradberry’s decision to come to East Rutherford.

But players are always going to go where they feel either wanted, more comfortable and/or have a chance to win. The Lions have a great organization but are still the only remaining NFC team to qualify for a Super Bowl.

Bradberry knows the Giants’ history and also Gettleman’s ability to build winners in this league and will now be their top corner and senior man in the secondary at age 26.
