James Bond's Live and Let Die actor and stuntman Tommy Lane dies aged 83

Live and Let Die actor Tommy Lane has died at the age of 83.

The actor and stuntman, who played a villain in the 1973 James Bond film, died in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

His daughter Kamala Lane confirmed the news.

In the James Bond movie, he was one of drug lord Dr Kananga’s henchmen who trails the 007 agent (played by Roger Moore). across the bayou.

While on a speedboat with Bond, Lane's character said: "You made one mistake back on that island, Bond. You took something that didn’t belong to you.

"And you took it from a friend of Mr. Big’s. That kind of mistake is tough to bounce back from."

Lane was best known for his role as hitman Leroy in 1971's Shaft. Richard Roundtree - who played John Shaft - threw him out the window in the movie.

His character was hired by crime boss Bumpy (Moses Gunn).

"That’s some cold s**t, throwing my man Leroy out the window, Bumpy's associate Willy (Drew Bundini Brown) exclaimed.

"Just picked my man up and threw him out the goddamn window."

He also had roles in Simon & Simon, Blue Skies Again and Virtual Weapon.

The late star's last appearance in a movie was for the 2007 film Sweat, where he played Billy.

The talented actor also did stunts in Ganja & Hess, Come Back Charleston Blue as well as Shaft.

He is survived by his wife Raquel Bastias-Lane, his seven children, a stepson, several grandchildren along with great-grandchildren.

Lane was born in Miami and was a jazz musician, playing the trumpet and flugelhorn in New York City's Blue Note throughout the 1980s.

Following his death, fans took to social media to pay tribute to the actor.

"Sad news. Tommy Lane passed away yesterday aged 83. RIP," one user mentioned.

Another reminisced about his character in Live and Let Die: "Gutted reading that Tommy Lane, aka @AdamTheEnforcer has died at 83.

"Adam is a great character in Live And Let Die and definitely one of the best dressed henchmen in the franchise."
