James Bond's Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux pose for Italy photocall as No Time to Die filming continues

The leading stars of the latest James Bond film have gathered together for a photocall in Italy as talk about who should be the next star to play the British spy continues.

Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux posed together with the city of Matera, where the upcoming movie No Time to Die is being filmed, as a stunning backdrop.

Director Cary Joji Fukunaga also stood alongside the pair for the official photos.

No Time to Die marks 51-year-old Craig's last outing as Bond.

Earlier this week, former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan said he believed it was time for an actress to take on the role.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the 66-year-old said: "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there!

"I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting," he added.

But his comment was criticised by some fans, including Good Morning Britain Host Piers Morgan, who described the suggestion as a “load of horse manure” and “virtue-signalling nonsense.”

Speaking during Monday's episode of Good Morning Britain, the presenter, 54, said: “Here’s my question, Why? Why?"

Mocking the idea, he added: "What the world really needs right now is a female, woke James Bond, who is going to be very nice to people, not kill anyone. What a load of horse manure. Why should James Bond be a woman? Why?”

In August, the producers revealed the title of the film on Twitter.

The movie will also star Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek as "a mysterious villain."

Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been drafted in to help write the script while Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw will return as M and Q respectively.

Naomie Harris is also coming back as Moneypenny and Rory Kinnear will again play MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner.

Seydoux is reprising her role as Madeleine Swann, who starred in 2015's Spectre, while Jeffrey Wright is returning as ex-CIA agent Felix Leiter.

Filming for the movie has also been taking place in Jamaica, London and at Pinewood Studios.
