James Bond memes: Fans mock Bond with alternate 007 film titles as he retires

James Bond is "out of active service" when we first see him in Bond 25 so it was inevitable the retired jokes would soon follow the news.

The plot detail was shared by producer Barbara Broccoli who said when we first see James Bond he's in a different place - and in Jamaica.

"Well, Bond is not on active service when we start the film. He is enjoying himself in Jamaica," she said.

She said they considered Jamaica to be Bond's "spiritual home", and added: "We start his journey here. We've got quite a ride in store for Mr Bond."

Rami Malek stars as the Bond villain, with Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch and Game Night actor Billy Magnussen all joining the cast of Bond 25, director Cary Joji Fukunaga said.

The returning cast members include Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Naomie Harris and Jeffrey Wright.

The news was announced at an event attended by the cast and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson in Jamaica - a nod to the location used in 1962's Dr No.

With the news hat Bond has essentially retired fans couldn't help but mock him. When asked to come up with alternate film titles the jokes came thick and fast.

There was everything from Dr Now to On Her Majesty's Secret Stairlift - just look at the hashtag #RetiredBond for a chuckle or two.

While fans were quick to come up with the joke titles, the actual film title still hasn't been revealed.

The working title was believed to be Shatterhand, but Broccoli dismissed this when she signed fan art, writing: "It's Not".

Bond 25 is Craig's fifth and final James Bond outing, having previously starred in Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.

Bond 25 is out in April 2020.
