James Bond actor Daniel Craig makes cheeky Man City jibe before Liverpool showdown

"They think they play better football. No! We play much better football."

James Bond actor Daniel Craig is much more accustomed to delivering a 'licence to kill' rather than mind games in the Premier League title race - but 007 has seemingly done his bit for the Liverpool cause.

Having topped the pile for a third time in four seasons, Manchester City are set to continue their latest defence at Anfield on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm).

It's a mouth-watering showdown that will leave one of those contenders with a psychological advantage heading into the international break.

In plugging new Bond film 'No Time To Die', the Chester-born actor channelled his inner Gary Neville by teaming up with Jamie Carragher for punditry duties on Sky Sports.

During that exchange with Carragher, the Liverpool supporter delivered a message to City fans - but judging by his tone, it was very much a tongue-in-cheek statement.

Craig went on to praise Pep Guardiola for his work at the Etihad Stadium, and shared an expected prediction when it came to issuing his title verdict.

He said: "We play much better football. They think they play better football. No!

"They are going to be there, aren't they? They always are. Pep [Guardiola] seems to keep them going and he seems to keep them inspired, season after season. You'd be crazy to count them out.

"United are looking interesting. It does feel a bit more open, which is exciting if any of us are neutral, but I do think Liverpool, they've got the spark.

"I think there is a really big chance. We were talking before we started this about the Crystal Palace game. That was a really big signifier that we can do it. If we can gauge those games out, then we can do anything."
