James Bond 25 returns to Scottish Highlands after Daniel Craig film Skyfall

Bond is about to return to his roots.

The BBC has revealed that production on the 25th James Bond film has moved to the Scottish Highlands.

Temporary accommodation has been constructed for the crew of the EON Productions film in Aviemore in the Cairngorms.

A spokesperson for the Highland Council's film office said: "As well as providing an immediate benefit during filming, many of these productions and, most notably, successful movies or well-known TV series also provide a showcase for the area that brings further tourism benefits."

The Scottish Highlands last played a major role in the series in the hit 2012 film Skyfall , which saw the secret agent return to his Scottish roots and explore his past, with scenes filmed in Glen Coe and Glen Etive.

Daniel Craig is due to reprise his role as the iconic film hero, but it was recently revealed that the character's MI6 code number 007 has been taken on by new arrival Nomi ( Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch) in the new film following Bond's retirement.

Other new additions to the film include Oscar-winner Rami Malek as the central Bond villain and Blade Runner 2049 star Ana de Armas as Paloma.

Returning cast members include MI6 regulars Ralph Fiennes , Naomie Harris , Ben Whishaw , and Rory Kinnear , while SPECTRE additions Lea Seydoux and Christoph Waltz are also set to make comebacks.

Could the new scenes in Scotland see more answers to questions about James Bond's past?

Bond 25 is released in UK cinemas on April 3, 2020.
