James Arthur eyes X Factor All Stars judge role after burying hatchet with Simon Cowell

James Arthur says he’d love to be involved in an X Factor All Stars series if it happens - but not as a contestant.

The 31-year-old singer, who won the ITV show in 2012, said he’d fancy sitting behind the judges’ desk more than being on stage.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, he said: “I’d love to get involved but I wouldn’t want to be a contestant.

“I’m still signed to a record label so I don’t think it would be right for me to take part in that way, but I’d definitely be up for helping out in some way.”

When asked if he’d fancy joining boss Simon Cowell on the judging panel, James said: “Yes I’d love to do that.

“If they want a really honest judge then I’d be more than happy to do it.”

James won X Factor in 2012 but was dropped from Simon’s Syco record label in 2014 after becoming embroiled in a string of controversies.

He later apologised and was welcomed back to Syco two years later.

He told us: “It does feel different this time because I’ve stopped worrying as much and am just enjoying making the music I want to make.”
