James Argent sings at mental health fundraiser after opening up about having therapy

James Argent has returned to the stage after revealing he's having therapy.

The former TOWIE favourite best known as Arg performed at an event held by the mental health charity Moodswings.

James, who sings with The Arg Band, sang at Rosso restaurant at Spring Gardens in Manchester, to an audience including The Only Way is Essex stars Jon and Chris Clark.

And Coronation Street's Ellie Leach and Debbie Rush, Weatherfield's Faye and Anna Windass, showed their support for the charity founded by co-star Jennie Alpine's father Tom, who died in 2017.

Speaking after his performance Arg said: “It’s been great to perform with the band, it was a really good atmosphere."

Sharing a photo of himself at the event on Instagram he thanked Moodswings for welcoming him and said: "This was special to me."

Former Love Island star Jon said: "Mental health is so important and it’s amazing what these guys are doing so we really wanted to be here and support them.”

And Chris added: “It’s a really good cause and it’s been a great event."

Last month Arg found himself at the centre of drama when two police cars and an ambulance crew went to his £1.3 million home in Essex amid fears he’d taken an overdose.

Telling his side of the story to OK! Magazine the 31-year-old insisted that it was all a misunderstanding caused by him not answering the phone to on/off girlfriend Gemma Collins.

"Gemma loves me to death. She was seriously concerned because she couldn’t get hold of me, which I understand," he explained.

Arg also bravely revealed he had began therapy to help him deal with an eating disorder.

"My biggest problem is my eating disorder. I have always struggled with it since my teens," he said.

"When I’m in a bad place I binge eat, and when I put on weight it then triggers more issues.

"I have been aware of the issue for a long time, but I still struggle with it so I’m speaking to my therapist about changing my relationship with my food."

Founded in 1999, Moodswings helps people recover from mood problems and the severe emotional distress they can cause.
