James Argent's lost 5.5 stone after gastric surgery and finally able to eat solid food

James 'Arg' Argent has shared that he has shed an impressive 5 and a half stone following his gastric surgery.

The former TOWIE star, 33, decided to have the procedure after reaching 27 stone on the scales and being told by doctors that he could die if he did not slim down.

And on Monday, James updated his fans on his progress and told that he is finally able to munch on solid food after weeks of being restricted to a liquid diet.

Taking to Instagram, Arg wrote: "Back on solid foods I'm Delighted with the results, 5 1/2 Stone weight loss so far!

"Thanks to the team @wearetransform who have been guiding me on the how to integrate solids back into my diet.

"I’m aiming to stick to nutritionally packed foods as part of a well balanced diet to help me reach my weight loss goals "

Reality personality James illustrated the post with a snap of himself sat down enjoying a plate of salad and chicken at E Pellicci Italian restaurant in London.

It comes after an insider close to the Essex native revealed that James is feeling "10 years younger" after his operation.

A source told The Sun : "Arg feels amazing and about 10 years younger. He’s never been as fit and healthy as this and he only wants to continue going in the same direction.

"It's given him newfound confidence and he is determined to stretch himself with more and more challenges.

"On the downside, all this working out means he has less time to meet someone - but there will be plenty of time for that. Arg is in a great place right now and it is all down to his weight-loss journey."

Opening up recently about his weight loss, Arg said on Steph's Packed Lunch: "It felt horrible, I was always extremely uncomfortable, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.

"It felt depressing and it just wasn’t me. Now I’m starting to feel like myself again and I’m excited about what the future is going to bring.

"It was scary being 27 stone… It was serious, doctors were telling me how dangerous it was… I knew it was something I had to address pretty quickly."

He added: "I’m four stone lighter now. It’s a really good start. Four stone out of 11 or 12 might seem like a drop in the ocean but I’m pleased I’ve made progress already.

"I feel so much happier already, I feel healthier already, I’m lighter on my toes, I’m more confident. I’m really loving life at the moment.

"I can still eat what I want now, it’s down to me what I put inside my mouth. It helps me with portion control.

"It helps me physically, I’ve still got to do a lot of work to make sure I’m all good mentally."
