James Argent confidently struts topless down the beach after losing five stone

James Argent is looking - and surely feeling - incredible after shedding an impressive five stone.

The TOWIE star recently underwent gastric sleeve surgery in a bid to overhaul his lifestyle after a warning from doctors.

The 33-year-old has fully embraced exercise to keep his weight loss journey going, and he appears to be enjoying it too.

He was recently pictured strutting confidently down the beach in nothing but a pair of swimming shorts after taking a dip in the sea at Dover.

Arg vowed to change his life after weighing in at nearly 27 stone at the start of the year. He admitted he had piled on the pounds over the lockdown and was told by doctors he needed to lose weight or he would die.

Fresh from his surgery, Arg looked well as he headed out for a swim.

Wearing a pink swimming cap and blue swimming trunks, he looked the part as he headed out for training with the Varne Ridge swimming team, with his surgery scars on display.

Varne Ridge helps people to prepare for cross channel swims, with training taking place in the early hours of the morning and late at night in the sea, to help get swimmers ready for the tough physical challenge.

Back in 2019, Arg attempted to swim the channel to raise money for charity as part of Channel 4 show Sink Or Swim but the group failed to complete it after bad weather struck just five miles before the finish.

The reality star had previously admitted an operation was his only option to shed the pounds.

He told The Sun earlier this year: "I don’t want to die. An op is the only way I can lose weight.

"I see pictures of myself and it’s too upsetting. The other day I had to ask my manager to put my shoes on for me because I just couldn’t do it - my belly is too big. I can’t do up my own shoe laces.

"I don’t want to die, it’s as simple as that. I’ve been told by doctors that I am morbidly obese and need to lose weight, but I have an eating disorder, so I can’t do it ... Nobody is trying to stop me from having an op. Everyone knows it’s the only way I can lose weight."

After the surgery, Arg shared his excitement with his fans over finally having the operation.

"I’ve struggled with my weight for years but I’m finally ready both physically & mentally to do something about it."

"The next few months are going to be tough but I’m determined to reclaim my life," he wrote on Instagram.
