Jameela Jamil says it's not 'safe' for Meghan Markle to fly with the public after private jet row

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been slammed for using private jets four times in 11 days after preaching about environmentalism to us mere mortals.

But self-confessed Megan fan Jameela Jamil has leapt to defend the 38-year-old, saying it's not "safe" for the royals to fly with the public.

The Good Place actress, 33, accused Meg's critics of bullying her, before saying the couple could be put in harm's way if they didn't get private planes.

She tweeted: "Just say you hate her because she’s black, and him for marrying a black woman and be done with it God dammit.

"Your bullying is so embarrassing and obvious. You’ve all lost your marbles. It’s 2019. Grow up.

"And ALSO, it’s not safe for us to be on the same planes as royals or presidents you absolute muppets.

"They are prime targets for kidnap and sometimes assassination. It's in the interest of us civilians to not be endangered by proximity to people in such powerful positions."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were accused of hypocrisy for getting private jets after campaigning to protect the environment.

They were photographed boarding a 12-seater Cessna 680 at Nice airport on Saturday, as a scheduled British Airways flight took off behind them.

Elton John released a rare statement defending the couple, who stayed at his £15m palatial home Castel Mont-Alban during their short break.

He said he'd donated to sustainability website Carbon Footprint to offset the lavish fight.

Earlier this month Harry and Meghan chartered their own luxury aircraft for both legs of a six-day trip to Ibiza to celebrate the Duchess’ 38th birthday.

The decision to fly privately means they have generated an estimated seven times the emissions per person compared to passengers on a commercial flight from Nice to Britain.

In an interview published in the September issue of Vogue with conservationist Jane Goodall, Harry revealed that he and Meghan wanted a “maximum” of two children because of environmental concerns.

The issue was guest-edited by the Duchess.

She selected climate change activist Greta Thunberg as one of her “forces for change” to be put on the front cover.
