Jameela Jamil reveals she's battled with cancer twice amid ageist trolling

Actress and presenter Jameela Jamil has told that she's had cancer twice.

The 33 year-old was striking back at a cruel agesist troll when she made the revealation.

She'd posted a picture in a floral dress, to which the troll replied: "You are too old to dress like that. Not a good look."

At first, Jameela hit back: "The biggest nonsense always comes from men in my mentions. I like men. I know wonderful men.

"I'm not saying all men are like this. But some men are not doing the rest of you favours on this app. They are currently the vast majority of people who say dumb s**t to me."

Later, she tweeted her disgust that somebody could be shamed for their age - particularly as someone who has had cancer.

She wrote: "I would just like to say, that as someone who has been chronically ill my whole life, and had cancer twice, I find it EXTREMELY offensive that there is a cultural taboo around aging.

"Those of us who fight for our lives and those who lost that fight young, deserve more respect."

Jameela has talked openly in 2015 about a breast cancer scare after she discovered a lump, but which turned out not to be cancerous.

She's gained repute recently for her work to combat body shaming and embrace a positive body image.

This includes her I Weigh campaign, which aims to fight back against trolls and fat shaming, among other stereotyping and discrimination.

The Instagram bio for the movement reads: "I Weigh is about radical inclusivity, so that no one feels alone. Our job is to amplify, advocate, and pass the mic."

Jameela has hosted pop sensation Sam Smith for the campaign, who spoke candidly about their struggles with body image.

Sam said: "My whole life I've struggled with my body and my relationship with it."
