Jameela Jamil criticises Khloe Kardashian post claiming 'girls want to lose weight'

Jameela Jamil has criticised a social media post shared by Khloe Kardashian presenting weight loss as a universal goal for girls.

Kardashian shared the post, which reads: "Two things a girl wants: 1) Lose weight; 2) Eat" on her Instagram Story.

Jamil took a screenshot and shared it on her Twitter account, explaining why the message pains her.

"This makes me sad," Jamil, one of the stars of The Good Place, wrote.

"I hope my daughter grows up wanting more than this. I want more than this."

She added about Kardashian: "Sending love to this poor woman. This industry did this to her. The media did it to her. They fat-shamed her into a prison of self critique.

"Dear girls, WANT MORE THAN THIS."

Jamil has been a vocal campaigner against body-shaming, addressing the topic in multiple interviews.

She has singled out the Kardashian family in the past, accusing them of promoting unhealthy messages related to body image, including in May 2018 after Kim Kardashian promoted lollipops marketed as "appetite suppressants" on her Instagram account.
