Jameela Jamil cancels Candace Owens' appearance on podcast for saying 'only women give birth'

Right wing commentator Candace Owens has had her invitation to appear on Jameela Jamil 's podcast revoked following comments made about trans people.

Owens had previously tweeted in response to a headline which read, 'Transgender man gives birth to non-binary partner's baby with female sperm donor' with 'Woman gives birth to partner's baby with male sperm donor. There. I fixed it for you.'

Later, Owens posted a screen grab of a note from Jamil cancelling Owens' appearance on her podcast. 'SAD TO ANNOUNCE that @jameelajamil has revoked my invitation to her podcast bc I tweeted 'only women can give birth.' Apparently the statement made her trans co-workers feel 'unsafe.' My refusal to untether myself from biological realities has cost me, yet again.'

The note from Jamil outlined her reasons for cancelling the podcast appearance. 'We have trans people working with us' Jamil wrote, adding 'You are both free to say whatever you like about this publicly. I'm sure you will have an entertaining spin. But nothing is worth my friends and co-workers feeling unsafe.'

When a Twitter user questioned the decision, Jamil replied to say she was 'down to talk to those with opposing views, but willful bullies are not welcome on my platform.'

Owens is a prominent right wing commentator who has previously spoken out against the Black Lives Matter movement. She is also a pro-Trump activist.

Before Christmas, Jamil unfollowed Harry Potter author J.K Rowling when she announced her support for Maya Forstater , who took unsuccessful legal action after being dismissed from her job for comments made about trans people.
