Jamarco Jones could get 1st start at right guard for Seahawks on Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks could be facing the Cleveland Browns Week 6 without either D.J. Fluker or Ethan Pocic in the lineup. Tackle Jamarco Jones, who stepped in for an injured Fluker at right guard against the Rams, could be looking at his career-first NFL start.

Fluker left the Rams matchup early with a hamstring injury and has not been able to return to practice. Pocic, who has missed the last three outings with a mid-back injury, may once again be available on game day.

Jones, who sat out the entire 2018 season as a result of an ankle injury, stepped up on short notice against Los Angeles and logged an impressive first performance on the right side.

“When you watch the film, he did an amazing job, he really did,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Thursday. “It just shows you that these guys, they work. They prepare. He’s bounced back so well from last year, missing the whole year. Just prepping. I can’t remember the last time he played guard, when that was. For him to step in and do that and going up against that front, that was pretty cool to see.”

The Seahawks have a walk-through Friday before the final injury report of the week is released. Should both Fluker and Pocic ultimately be ruled out, Jones will have yet another shot to prove himself capable on Seattle’s offensive line.
