Jamal Lewis to Liverpool? Premier League champions table £10m bid for Northern Ireland defender

Liverpool have tabled a £10m offer to Norwich for Northern Ireland defender Jamal Lewis.

According to The Athletic, the Premier League champions have also offered the relegated Canaries a substantial sell-on clause for the 22-year-old.

Lewis impressed for Norwich has season despite the club being demoted to the Championship.

He made 27 appearances in the Premier League, scoring once.

If the deal goes through, Lewis would become Jurgen Klopp's first signing of the summer, and the first since clinching the Anfield club clinched the league title.

Norwich have been holding out for £20m for the young left-back, who is seen as valuable cover for Liverpool's Scottish defender Andy Robertson.

Lewis is contracted to Norwich until 2023 and is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Crystal Palace.

The Athletic say Liverpool are also eyeing up Greece international Kostas Tsimikas if the Lewis deal isn't pushed through.

Lewis became a mainstay of Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland team after making his debut against South Korea in March 2018.

His international bow came just three months after be made his Norwich debut in a Championship game against Birmingham City.
