Jamal Lewis is not dwelling on what might have been after completing his summer switch to Newcastle United.
The 22-year-old was a transfer target for Liverpool but the Reds ultimately opted to sign Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas instead in a £11.75million deal.
Lewis - relegated from the Premier League with Norwich City last season - ended up joining Newcastle for £15m.
And the Northern Ireland international insists he is happy with the way things have turned out.
"Once I heard Newcastle were in and it was strong interest it was a no-brainer - 100%," he told the Chronicle.
"You leave it to the clubs to sort their side of things but once I heard (about the offer) I wanted to be a Newcastle player.
"Once the bid came in there was no decision to be made.
"I just had a feeling that the manager (Steve Bruce) really wanted me in. It's something you want.
"When I saw the amount was agreed I felt that was the biggest barrier overcome.
"I was happy to sort out personal terms and get the medical done.
"It was a long day but I really enjoyed it and seeing the stadium and the training ground and stuff like that."
Lewis is now hoping to emulate Liverpool's flying full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson - albeit for a different club.
"Those two have set the standards and shown what full-backs can really provide for a team," he added.
"I pride myself giving energy going forward - but also leaving no gaps behind me as well.
"I am just looking forward to fighting for this team, not only helping the team score goals but stopping them."
