Jamal Adams, Jets Twitter praises Kelechi Osemele trade

The Jets made their first big move of the offseason Sunday, agreeing to a trade at a big position of need.

New York will acquire Oakland Raiders guard Kelechi Osemele once the new league year beings. In exchange for Osemele, the Jets sent over their fifth-round pick in this year’s upcoming draft while also getting back the Bears’ sixth-round pick that the Raiders acquired in the Khalil Mack trade.

Osemele is coming off a down season in which he was hindered by knee and toe injuries. However, he was a Pro Bowler in 2016 and 2017 and was named First-Team All-Pro in 2016. The Jets were in the market for a new left guard with James Carpenter on the decline and heading for free agency. Osemele is a major upgrade from Carpenter and he will help protect Sam Darnold on the offensive line.

With that in mind, the move was a hit among Jets Twitter, including outspoken safety Jamal Adams.

It wasn’t just Adams who approved the deal, though. The acquisition of Osemele had both experts and fans singing the Jets’ praises.

With Osemele heading to New York, the Jets still have some work to do on the offensive line. Center will be a priority, one they can now focus on with the left guard position solidified.
