Jamal Adams finally on speaking terms with Joe Douglas, Adam Gase

Jamal Adams finally broke the ice with Joe Douglas and Adam Gase.

The Jets’ third-year safety refused to speak with either after his name came up in trade rumors last week. Adams wanted to give himself time to emotionally heal before he was ready to talk. Well, it appears that time has come.

The safety told reporters on Thursday that he finally addressed the situation with his general manager and head coach.

Adams took it quite personally that his name appeared in trade rumors right before the trade deadline. Although it had been reported that Douglas was not actively shopping Adams, the safety felt hurt that the Jets general manager listened to offers for him. The two had met before the deadline and Adams stated his desire to remain with the team, so it bothered him that Douglas listened to offers the day of the deadline.

However, Adams finally spoke with Douglas and Gase and everything appears fine now. Adams said both sides apologized before adding that he hopes to remain with the Jets.

“Yeah, I would love to be here,” Adams said. “I want to bring success to this organization and I want to bring a Super Bowl to this team. That’s why I was placed here in New York, to pick up where my dad left off. His career was cut short due to injury. So I feel like this is my calling and I want to be here of course.”
