Jamaican goalkeeper plays in Northern Irish League game 24 hours after Women's World Cup match

It was an eventful couple of days for Jamaica goalkeeper Nicola McClure, who just 24 hours after making her Women's World Cup debut, played in a Northern Irish League game.

After Jamaica's exit from the tournament the night before, McClure kept a clean sheet for Sion Swifts in the NIFL Women’s Premier League as they defeated Crusaders Strikers on Wednesday night.

McClure became the first player from the NIFL ever to appear at the finals when, after sitting out the 'Reggae Girlz' first two matches, she played against the Matildas.

Unfortunately, her luck wasn't as good at the World Cup as she conceded four goals in a 4-1 defeat that ended their slim hopes of progression out of the group stage.

Swifts are now third in the Premiership, two points behind leaders Linfield and Glentoran, with eight games played.
