Jamaal Williams TD gets Packers back into game after nightmare start vs. Lions

Despite a nightmare start packed with self-inflicted errors, the Green Bay Packers got to the locker room for halftime trailing the Detroit Lions by only three points.

Matt LaFleur’s team can thank a big mistake from the Lions and a productive half from running back Jamaal Williams for the second-quarter recovery.

After stopping the Packers inside the 20-yard line, the Lions were called for too many men on the field, and Williams immediately made the extra set of downs hurt. He took Aaron Rodgers’ touch pass and scooted around the left side to score from five yards out.

A drive later, Williams rumbled 45 yards up the middle, setting up a field goal that made the score 13-10 at the break. It was a career-long run for Williams.

Through two quarters, Williams has produced 108 total yards on 11 touches, including 79 yards rushing on only eight carries.

The Packers could be leading. Aaron Jones and Jimmy Graham both dropped touchdown passes, Jones fumbled inside Lions’ territory and the Packers were inches away from creating a goal line stand.

The Lions dominated the first quarter and led 13-0 with 13:31 left in the second quarter. The Packers scored the final 10 points of the half, and they’ll get the ball to start the third quarter.
