Jamaal Lascelles goes on Sky Sports to apologise for NUFC humiliation: Full transcript

Jamaal Lascelles has described Newcastle United's performance at Leicester City as "terrible" and "unacceptable" following the 5-0 hiding at the King Power Stadium.

Just a week after Fabian Schar had branded the 0-0 draw with Brighton as "****" the Magpies crumbled badly in the East Midlands.

Isaac Hayden's red card set the tone for a chaotic display that leaves Newcastle deservedly in the bottom two of the Premier League table.

After the game, Lascelles - who also apologised to travelling fans at the end - said: "It's terrible from the boys.

"It is no one's fault but ourselves.

"We went a man down but we still had 10 on the pitch and leaking four goals is not acceptable.

"We have had a rollicking off the gaffer and we really need to look at ourselves in the mirror.

"You have to make it hard for them. It is not good enough.

"The way we conceded the goals was terrible and it has never happened before."

United now face Man United next weekend, and Lascelles said: "The boys do care and the man down was disadvantage but you can still roll your sleeves up because it is not good enough.

"It doesn't matter what manager you have, but you have to have pride yourself and ensure you win your duels.

"We really need to sit down and look back at that.

"The gaffer wont let us have our heads down too much and it wont have an effect on other games."
