Jamaal Lascelles and Ryan Fraser back in full-training as Magpies receive double boost

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has returned to full training after recovering from Covid.

The Magpie s skipper has not appeared for the senior side for six weeks after he was one of a number of players that suffered from the virus during the outbreak.

Lascelles must now wait to see if he gets the nod for United's FA Cup trip to Arsenal on Saturday night for the third-round encounter in the capital.

Lascelles appeared in a batch of photographs issued by the club in their preparations for the cup tie this weekend and was joined by Ryan Fraser who trained after a muscle injury.

Fraser last appeared in the League Cup game at Brentford when the Magpies were dumped out in the quarter-finals.

Lascelles reflected on the virus last week when he said: "Being at home for so long and not seeing anyone else, it was good to see the boys around the place.

"You feel like you're missing out and you don't feel part of it when you are not there."

Scotland international Fraser suffered from hamstring issues in November and December and Steve Bruce has been cautious about his return.
