Jalen Ramsey wants to finish his career with the Rams

Jalen Ramsey came to the Rams last October knowing he was only under contract through the 2020 season. After that, he didn’t know where he would be playing. It was clear from the start that he wanted to remain with the Rams after celebrating his departure from Jacksonville, but the two sides needed to hammer out a contract extension.

They did just that this week, only days before the start of the regular season. Ramsey signed his record $105 million contract on Thursday, securing his future in Los Angeles.

And based on his comments to reporters Friday, it sounds like Ramsey wants to play for the Rams beyond those five years, too.

Ramsey, 25, still has plenty of good football in front of him, as does Aaron Donald. The two are both under contract with the Rams through 2024, with Ramsey’s deal stretching out to the 2025 season.

With two defensive stars in L.A. for the foreseeable future, the Rams are set up for success on that side of the ball. And in Ramsey’s eyes, Donald is the best player in the league, saying he can’t wait to tell his kids that he played next to the G.O.A.T.

Ramsey is going to eat a good chunk of the Rams’ salary cap for the next five years after the 2020 season, but he plans to live up to the contract by continuing to play at a high level.

Donald has already lived up to his historic deal with the Rams, and Ramsey plans to do the same.
